About Zara
Zara Raab’s poems have appeared in The Hudson Review, River Styx, The Dark Horse, The Evansville Review, and Arts & Letters. Her books are The Book of Gretel , Fracas & Asylum, and Swimming the Eel, with an expanded Swimming the Eel New Edition out in 2021. Stephen Kessler of the Redwood Coast Review called Swimming the Eel “a moving and impressive work of art. […With] a combination of formal coherence and musical fluency, […] a beautifully sustained sequence of poems.”
Raab’s essays and reviews are published in nationally known journals, including Poet Lore and the Colorado Review. She joined the Powow River Poets in 2020 just before the pandemic and not quite in time to be included in the second Powow River Poets Anthology. She helps organize the annual April Newburyport Literary Festival.
